This session invites contributions showing original results on past variations of continental weathering, vegetation changes and land use, based on new proxies applied to marine, deltaic or lacustrine sediments.

Sediments are sensitive archives of instabilities affecting the critical zone. Novel approaches combining classical and new proxies for reconstructing the evolution of continental surface and weathering (lithium isotopes and other non-conventional isotopes, molecular biomarkers, DNA), and confronted to quantified climate parameters (temperature, hydrological cycle) are encouraged. All timescales are welcome. We particularly encourage investigations aimed at discriminating and quantifying the respective impacts of climate and human activities, as well as those that provide insights into the resilience of and services provided by continental surfaces.
