Two postdoc positions available at the OGU in Bristol (UK)

Two postdoc positions are available at the Organic Geochemistry Unit at the University of Bristol, UK, focusing on the application of organic molecular proxies to terrestrial archives that span the Cenozoic. More information about the two projects is given below.

*Cenozoic Terrestrial Temperatures

The first position is for 18 months. The post-holder will reconstruct terrestrial temperature across the Cenozoic (Eocene-Miocene) using immature lignites (fossilized peat) and newly developed organic geochemical temperature proxies. This post will be part of the ERC-project of Prof. R.D. Pancost (T-GRES).

Closing date for applications is the 12th of March. More information in the attached pdf labeled « Cenozoic Temperatures ». Applications can be submitted here http://emea3.mrted.ly/1asjy#.WJNjIjF8lfE.twitter

*Uplift Tibetan Plateau

The second position is for 42 months (3.5 years). The post-holder will be part of a large interdisciplinary team funded by the NERC as part of a joint UK-China collaboration scheme. The overall goal of the project is to link uplift of the Tibetan Plateau (and wider global climate change) in the late Paleogene and early Neogene to changes in biodiversity. The research associate will focus particularly on developing new climate, environmental and vegetation records using lipid biomarkers. The post holder will reconstruct terrestrial temperature in terrestrial deposits, explore changes in the hydrological cycle and assess the environmental conditions under which fossils, central to the project’s wider goals, were deposited.
This post will be part of the BETR-project, led by Prof Paul Valdes (School of Geographical Sciences) and supervised by Prof. R.D. Pancost in the Organic Geochemistry Unit, School of Chemistry.

Closing date for applications is the 22th of February. More information in the attached pdf labeled « Tibetan Plateau ». Applications can be submitted here http://emea3.mrted.ly/1ayn4#.WJNjduVVRWg.twitter
