Postdoc Position – Univ. Oklahoma

A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Oklahoma, in the School of Geology and Geophysics (laboratory/group of prof. Philp). The major emphasis of this position will be to work on development and optimization of methods for determination of stable isotope ratios (C, H and Cl) in organic contaminants in environmental samples.

The position is for one year, with the opportunity of extension for additional year. The starting date is open but we want to fill this position as quickly as possible. The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Organic Geochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field, with a demonstrated record of method development in gas chromatography/MS, or in a similar analytical area. The position will require good mechanical aptitude, ability to design/modify and assemble custom instrumentation and good English writing skills.
The postdoctoral associate will work with GC-IRMS and GC-MS systems (Thermo Finnigan, Agilent). Experience with continuous-flow IRMS and/or track record with development of original analytical applications is desirable, but not necessary.
