We would like to draw your attention to session 14b, « Reconstructing Terrestrial Hydrology: Proxies, Mechanisms, and Records », at the 2013 Goldschmidt Conference in Florence, Italy from August 25-30. Abstracts are due April 12th. Please see the Goldschmidt 2013 website for more information.
Session description:
Regional hydrologic changes are likely to be amongst the greatest impacts of anthropogenic climate change. Moreover, recent records reveal significant natural precipitation variability associated with factors such as Asian and African monsoon strength, strength of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, and changes in the El Nino Southern Oscillation and other coupled climate modes. In order to investigate the timing and mechanisms of natural hydrologic variability, this session will highlight new records of regional precipitation on glacial-interglacial to inter-annual timescales. We encourage multi-proxy studies from all types of archives of terrestrial climate, especially those based on speleothems and terrestrial biomarkers deposited in lacustrine and coastal marine sediments. In addition, instrumental calibration studies, paleo-data syntheses, data-model comparisons, and studies that address interpretation of water isotopes
using isotope-enabled model simulations are welcome.
