PhD Student Position in Organic Geochemistry of Neoproterozoic Sediments
The Max-Planck-Research-Group ‘Organic Paleobiogeochemistry‘ has an opening for a highly motivated and excellently qualified PhD student to work on the molecular and isotopic organic geochemistry of a series of correlative Neoproterozoic basins in Asia. The 3.5-year project involves fieldwork, construction of a 13C chemostratigraphic framework, wet-chemical preparative techniques, GC-MS and GC-MS/MS analyses, bulk and compound-specific isotope analyses as well as graduate coursework.
The project could start immediately or in the coming months. uccessful candidates should have a recent Diplom or Masters degree, ideally in geosciences, as well as demonstrated
experience in organic geochemistry or environmental chemistry. Proficiency of the English language, both spoken and written, is essential. The work location is Bremen, Germany. International candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Applications (cover letter, CV, list of publications/presentations, 1-page statement of research achievements and/or interests) and inquiries should be sent to the PI or directly to the Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry: Postfach 10 01 64 in 07701 Jena, Germany. Review of applications starts immediately and closes on April 8th.
The Max-Planck-Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max-Planck-Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are under-represented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
