A post-doc position in hydrology/biogeochemistry in the boreal landscape

A post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Forest Ecology & Management, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå, Sweden.

Project
The post-doc will work with already available data, possibly complemented with new field work at Degerö Stormyr and/or the Krycklan Catchment Study (www.slu.se/Krycklan), on a range of possible questions related to hydrology and/or water born organic carbon transport and dynamics of the boreal landscape. The exact focus of the research project will be decided in conjunction with the successful candidate, but possible projects are i) Connecting hydrological process understanding and export of DOC, ii) Linking small scale hydrological processes to meso-scale stream biogeochemistry dynamics, and iii) Elucidating the role of scale, connectivity and seasonality for the flux and dynamics of water and solutes.

Location
The location of the post-doc is at the Forestry Faculty of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Department of Forest Ecology & Management (www.seksko.se), Umeå, Sweden. The field work will be carried out approximately one hour drive from SLU at Degerö Stormyr peatland and/or the Krycklan catchment, where research related to hydrology and biogeochemistry has been carried out for several decades. Since 2012, both sites are part of the ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observatory System) Sweden and ICOS Europe networks. These excellent research infrastructures, which include permanently employed and skilled technical staff, will provide the postdoc access to state-of-the-art field instrumentation, long-term data on biogeochemistry, hydrology and climate, and ample possibilities for scientific interactions and career development.

Qualifications and Conditions of Employment

· The candidate must show example on research resulting in publications in peer-review journals.
· The candidate must be fluent in English to be able to write, communicate and interact in an English-speaking environment.
